    Organic spirulina microalgae in powder

We do not present anymore the spirulina: this super-food is, since the last few years, on the radar for its nutritional and immune-stimulating benefits. It is the star of vegetarian and vegan diets, especially for its richness in plant-based proteins.

🟩 The particularities of organic spirulina

Spirulina is actually a microorganism (cyanobacterium), lacking a distinct nucleus. Upon closer inspection, it exhibits a spiral shape, hence its name. It appeared on Earth approximately 3.5 million years ago! It has developed extraordinary resilience to survive climate changes spanning from that era to the present day.

It is distinguished by its high content in minerals and trace elements (iron, zinc, selenium), but also in vitamins (A, B, D, E). Rich in iron and B12 vitamin, it is very popular for vegetarians and vegans. It contains 60 to 70 % amino acids, 3 times more than lean meat! It is also full of iron, copper, zinc, and magnesium, which further enhances the immunity and improve the strength and endurance of the body. A real anti-fatigue weapon.

It's the perfect companion for a healthy lifestyle, and for the more athletic, it helps boost your physical performance.

🟩 Why is Biovie spirulina dried using spray drying?

The work of Hélène Desmorieux, a doctoral student and researcher at LAGEP, a laboratory jointly supervised by the University Claude Bernard 1 of Lyon and the CNRS, shows that the best drying method for optimal preservation of spirulina nutrients is spray drying, recognized by Ecocert. This spray drying method allows for rapid dehydration of algae while preserving their nutritional qualities: it results in impeccable quality (although freeze-drying is a superior method, it is never actually used for spirulina).
Convection drying methods on trays, commonly practiced in small-scale artisanal facilities in France and elsewhere, have disadvantages due to the duration of the drying process.

    🟩 How to take spirulina?

Spirulina powder can be taken at any time of the day, although we advise against taking it in the evening as it can have an energizing effect on some people.

    Recommended daily dose: 3g
This is equivalent to a teaspoonful diluted in fruit or vegetable juice, a smoothie, plant-based milk, or yogurt.

To enhance the absorption of organic spirulina powder, combine it with vitamin C (such as lemon juice).
Using spirulina in cooking is also the best way to enjoy the benefits of this superfood throughout the year. There are plenty of recipe ideas available, and its intense color will immediately impress!

Note: Our organic spirulina is liposoluble, meaning it dissolves easily in a preparation or fatty liquid, but may clump in a liquid mostly made up of water.

The nutritional quality of organic spirulina is well established.

The antioxidants it contains in large quantities (its blue pigment, phycocyanin, and mainly beta-carotene) strengthen hemoglobin. Numerous studies have shown that white blood cells (T lymphocytes, macrophages, B cells, killer cells) are multiplied by taking spirulina! It also has the ability to reduce blood lipid levels.

Other studies show that it boosts the amount of hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that circulates oxygen in the blood and carries CO2 to the lungs. Correlated with its immunostimulating properties, it's a real panacea for boosting the vitality of your body.

Organic spirulina also promotes weight loss and helps decrease blood sugar levels: a significant anti-diabetes aid! Rich in chlorophyll, it's also an excellent detoxifier, especially for the liver, which improves digestion and regulates bacterial flora.

Its E vitamin content allows it to fight against free radicals, with visible effects on the brightness of the face and skin regeneration, as well as on the growth and strength of hair and nails.

Organic spirulina can be consumed by pregnant women, as it is a very good support for the body during this period, which requires increased energy intake (of course, always consult a healthcare professional).

Regarding B12 vitamin: spirulina is a source of B12 vitamin, however, studies contradict each other on whether it is absorbed by the body or not. For people following a vegan diet, we recommend turning to dietary supplements.

Biovie has extensively searched for a reliable and competitive supplier of spirulina certified by Ecocert at an international level, transported by boat, with the aim of offering spirulina at an affordable price for everyone and making it a superfood for daily consumption. We are proud to be among the cheapest in France.

We have found a producer who grows this blue-green algae, certified by Ecocert, in a semi-desert steppe area of Inner Mongolia (China), on a plateau at 3000 meters above sea level receiving more than 3000 hours of sunlight per year, thus providing ideal production conditions. The production area is far from major urban centers, industrial areas, and roads, and benefits from a very pure atmosphere at altitude.

The production basins are located under greenhouses to protect the crops from insects, suspended micro-particles in the air, and dust carried by the wind. Generous sunlight ensures adequate temperatures under the greenhouses, with a wide day/night temperature range favorable to the growth of microalgae.
Their demanding quality approach guarantees impeccable nutritional richness and the absence of heavy metals in the water basins up to the finished product. Quality control is carried out for each production batch; feel free to ask us for details.
