Organic Ceylon cinnamon sticks dried at low temperature, 200 g
Ceylon cinnamon is one of the most noble and aromatic varieties of cinnamon. Unlike the more common Chinese cinnamon, it has subtle and developed aromas, with a sweeter and more refined flavor.
Cinnamon is used in both savory and sweet cooking, for infusions, desserts (the famous cinnamon roll), soups, traditional dishes (tagines, curry...), or to add warmth to a more classic dish. It provides comfort and sweetness while invigorating our body and senses.
🟫 Whole for better preservation
We have chosen the stick format to preserve its aromas for a longer time (compared to powder). You can finely grind the stick for use as a powder just before using it: freshly ground cinnamon will reveal all its most subtle aromas !
🟫 Ethics, quality, and social development
Cinnamon is actually the dried bark of the cinnamon tree. Nothing more. When the branches reach about two meters in length and two centimeters in diameter, the harvest can begin. Cinnamon trees are native to Sri Lanka and are cultivated in various tropical regions such as India or Madagascar - from where this one comes.
Our cinnamon is produced according to strict organic standards and goes even further: each batch is traceable, analyzed, and guaranteed to be free of pesticides and phytosanitary residues.
Floribis wishes, as few companies do in Madagascar, for the farmers with whom they create sustainable partnerships to be able to make a decent living from their crops. Unfortunately, even in organic farming, there are still many issues in Madagascar, and some farmers work in very difficult conditions.
Floribis is creating a virtuous circle of jobs and sustainable economic development in the region on its own scale (learn more in the "sector" tab).
Cinnamon is one of the oldest spices in the world. It is used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines for its powerful effects.
Its major active ingredients are:
- thecinnamaldehyde, which is used to treat intestinal and stomach ailments
- cinnamaldehyde, which gives a sweet taste to Ceylon cinnamon when incorporated into dishes
- polyphenols, which are anti-inflammatory compounds
- the tannin that enhances anti-infective properties.
Its virtues:
• LScientific literature has ranked ground cinnamon 4th among the 50 foods containing the most antioxidants per 100 g serving. Of course, only a small amount of cinnamon is consumed, but it is so concentrated that its effects are felt even in small doses. It is richer in antioxidants than many other herbs and spices, including garlic, thyme, or rosemary. The various antioxidants it contains help combat the effects of oxidative stress. (see the study here), against cellular aging and help prevent certain chronic diseases.
• Cinnamon is an ally of the digestive system. A cinnamon tea at the end of a meal will support the digestive fire, helping you regain comfort more quickly. It is often used for minor issues such as flatulence, diarrhea, indigestion, and nausea.
Type 2 diabetes is a disease caused by insulin becoming less and less effective at regulating blood sugar levels. Cinnamon has long been studied to help people with this condition: it can reduce blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity. By normalizing insulin levels, it helps maintain good health for patients and delay the onset of the disease in at-risk individuals (accompanied by medical supervision). In people supplemented with cinnamon, a study demonstrates that it has led to a significant reduction in blood glucose and certain blood lipids (total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL cholesterol).
• Cinnamon can help stop excessive bleeding by assisting the body in the coagulation process. It also helps increase blood circulation and improves tissue repair. These properties can be particularly useful for regenerating heart tissues and thus combating heart attacks and strokes.
• Antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects thanks to the Cinnamaldehyde: a powerful antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and antiparasitic agent with a broad spectrum. You boost your immune system by adding cinnamon to your cooking! It may also help preserve certain foods for longer.
• Cinnamon shows very promising results in the fight against the disease ofAlzheimer and could help reduce neurological lesions and tumors. It would stimulate brain functions. This study It includes all the proven and yet to be proven benefits of this powerful spice with multiple uses.
