Large Olive Wood Plate

Here is our report in Tunisia, where we produce our atypical plates, unique and all different in size and patterns in olive wood. This work is the fruit of many improvements carried out in collaboration with this small family workshop which has made us benefit from its expertise over several generations.

We are the only ones in Europe and, I think, in the world to offer such plates, daily pleasure for the eyes, ears, and hands, which give a very organic atmosphere to our meals!

Tunisia is the country where there is the most olive trees planted in the world (80 million trees!) and the wood comes from trees that are too old to produce olives and are replaced by younger trees. If it is not used for such items, it is sold to be transformed into coal! These plates are sold at discounted prices as we are importers.

To eat in wood plates is a real touch-sensitive, visual and hearing pleasure in everyday life.

These olive wood plates are the result of an artisanal work commissioned by Biovie for several months. They are from variable sizes and shapes, all unique and different from each other. They are not necessarily completely flat on the table, their average size is from 28 to 32 centimetres. It is not possible to choose the model, it's a mere coincidence, all the bowls have their specific character and each piece is truly unique.

Maintenance: oil regularly with grape seed oil or another clear oil, and/or neutral taste. Do not expose in a extended manner to the sun, do not wash in the dishwasher, and use lukewarm water instead of hot water. Cracks or rough edges can appear and disappear from time to time, the wood is alive! If a lasting crack appears with usage (which is very rare because the plates have dried for several months before being sold), fill with wood filler, let dry and sand lightly.
